EDITORIAL & CONTENT POLICY GUIDE
PressHop Editorial & Content Policy Guide (updated on 8th May 2025)

1. General Principles
At PressHop, we are committed to:

Ensuring the integrity, safety, and legality of all content.

Respecting the privacy, dignity, and rights of all individuals.
This guide sets out what is and isn’t acceptable on our platform, with strict compliance to Google Play Store policies and UK & EU regulations, especially the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. GDPR & Data Protection
PressHop is fully compliant with the UK GDPR and EU GDPR. We strictly enforce:

Informed Consent: Contributors must have verifiable consent from any identifiable person featured in images, videos, or audio recordings.

Sensitive Data: Uploading content that reveals racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, health data, or sexual orientation without explicit, informed consent is strictly prohibited.

Right to Erasure: Subjects have the right to request the removal of content featuring them. Such requests will be acted upon promptly and in full.

Anonymisation: Where possible, personal identifiers (faces, licence plates, names) must be blurred or anonymised unless prior consent has been obtained.
3. Nudity & Sexual Content
Strictly prohibited, including but not limited to:

Full or partial nudity (regardless of context).

Sexually suggestive or explicit content.
-
Content focused on body parts in a sexualised manner.

Artistic nudity is not allowed on PressHop due to public visibility and Google Play Store guidelines.
4. Children & Minors (Under 12)
Content featuring children under the age of 12 is not permitted on PressHop under any circumstances. This includes:

Images, videos, or audio clips featuring children under 12.
-
Content identifying a child (e.g., name, school, location).
-
Situations that could expose children to harm, embarrassment, or exploitation.
This policy applies regardless of parental consent and is in line with global safety standards and Google Play Store requirements.
5. AI-Generated Content
PressHop does not allow any AI-generated content, including but not limited to:

Images, videos, or audio created or modified using artificial intelligence.

Synthetic media that resembles real people, events, or settings.
This is to prevent misinformation, manipulation, and to maintain transparency and trust.
6. Deepfakes & Manipulated Media
The following are strictly prohibited:

Deepfakes that depict real individuals saying or doing things they have not done.
-
Any manipulated media designed to deceive, defame, or misinform the public.
-
Synthetic content that could incite violence, hatred, or discrimination, or influence political or legal matters deceptively.
Deepfake content will only be permitted if:

It is clearly marked as satire or artistic parody.
-
It contains clear, visible disclosure (e.g. watermark or on-screen text) that it is synthetic and fictional.
However, in general, PressHop does not allow deepfakes or AI-generated media of any kind.
7. Content Restrictions: Zero Tolerance Policy
To protect users, uphold public trust, and comply with legal and platform regulations, PressHop strictly prohibits the following types of content:

❌ No AI-Generated Content (including images, audio, and video)
❌ No Nudity or Sexually Suggestive Content
❌ No Images or Videos of Children Under 12
❌ No Content Sourced from Social Media Platforms
Any content falling under these categories will be automatically removed and may result in account suspension or permanent banning. There are no exceptions to this policy.
This is non-negotiable and part of our commitment to safety, privacy, and ethical standards in citizen journalism.
8. Reporting & Removal
PressHop has a robust system for flagging, reviewing, and removing content that violates this policy:

Content in breach will be removed within 24 hours of notification.

Repeat violations may result in account suspension or permanent banning.

Legal authorities may be notified in cases involving minors, impersonation, defamation, or harm.
9. Legal Accountability
All contributors are legally responsible for the content they submit. By uploading to PressHop, users confirm that:

They own the rights to the content or have obtained all necessary permissions.

They understand that breaches of this policy may have legal consequences under UK, EU, or international law.
This policy ensures PressHop remains a trusted, ethical, and lawful space for instant, authentic citizen journalism.
